The department of Physiotherapy at Lusaka Trust Hospital is managed by a Physiotherapist Specialist and a Physiotherapist who are registered with the Health Professions Council of Zambia (HPCZ) and Zambia Society of Physiotherapy (ZSP).

 

At Lusaka Trust Hospital Physiotherapists provide treatment for both in-patient and outpatient. We offer  personalised, goal driven programme to improve joint and muscle function, strengthen and rehabilitate.

Our sports injury rehabilitation program is designed to help athletes  recover from sports-related injuries and get back to peak performance.

 We aim to maintain functional independence and overall well-being of elderly people by:
 Improving and maintaining range of motion of different joints.
 Specific exercises/treatment to help reduce joint pain.
 Maintaining muscle strength and endurance.
 Supervising exercises that help in building power and stability which is required to live an independent life.

If you have undergone orthopedic surgery or have musculoskeletal
conditions, our physiotherapists will guide you through a comprehensive rehabilitation program. We
focus on strengthening and restoring function to the affected area, promoting optimal recovery.

Neurological Rehabilitation: We provide specialized care for patients with neurological conditions namely stroke, paraplegia ,monoplegia, spinal cord injuries, facial/bells palsy, multiple sclerosis, and Parkinsons disease. Our team is trained in neuro rehabilitation techniques to help improve mobility, balance, and functional independence.

We help individuals with respiratory pathologies; improve their breathing and aerobic capacity by teaching them more effective breathing techniques, leading to lessshortness of breath and improvement in overall quality of life.

We assess, and treat neurological, developmental, cardio respiratory and orthopaedic conditions with a focus on improving function and increasing independence of children 

Physiotherapy in womens health, we provide treatment for:
 Antenatal and postnatal musculoskeletal problems
 Antenatal and postnatal incontinence
 Stress / urge urinary incontinence
 Post gynaecological surgery post hysterectomy
Specific exercise programme to train and strengthen pelvic floor muscles bowel issues, chronic pain, and exercise/wellness. We have exercises tailored to women’s specific needs, promoting optimal function, pain relief, and improved quality of life.
